We are designers, craftsmen, and makers. For over a decade, our process has been simple: “Imagine it, design it, make it.”
ADG42 Cast Iron Seasoning is engineered to build a tough, slick patina and eliminate the sticky, flaking mess of ordinary cooking oils. We formulate this by heat-blending high smoke-point grapeseed oil, refined safflower oil, and pure beeswax under strict thermal control.
All-Natural Cast Iron Seasoning Conditioner
Key Benefits:- High-Polymerization Formula (Zero Sticky Gunk): Anyone who cooks in iron knows the frustration of a gummy pan. Grapeseed and safflower oils are selected for their high smoke points and fat profiles, which are the exact properties required for clean cross-linking. Instead of leaving a tacky residue like lard or generic cooking oils, this formula cures into a hard, glass-smooth patina that releases seared meat and eggs with ease.
- Wax-Stabilized Thermal Barrier: Pure beeswax stabilizes the liquid oils into a clean, mess-free solid that melts instantly on warm cookware. It prevents runny oil spills, stops flash rust during damp storage, and burns clean during the oven curing process without smoking out your kitchen.
- 100% Food-Safe and Never Turns Rancid: Bacon grease and low-grade vegetable oils contain animal impurities and moisture that break down, spoil, and create rancid odors in your pans between cooks. Our formula contains only clean, shelf-stable, food-safe ingredients that never go bad or impart off-flavors to your food.
- Volume: 2 Ounces.
- Formulation: Proprietary thermal blend of High Smoke-Point Grapeseed Oil, Refined Safflower Oil, and Pure Beeswax.
- Cookware Compatibility: Raw Cast Iron, Vintage Skillets, Dutch Ovens, Carbon Steel Pans, Woks, and Outdoor Griddles.
- Packaging: Heavy-duty metal tin with permanent in-house laser engraving.
- Origin: Formulated, hand-poured, and custom-engraved in the USA at the ADG42 Studio. Veteran-Owned since 2015.
Q: Why use this blend instead of bacon grease, flaxseed oil, or canola oil?
A: Bacon grease contains animal salts and water that turn rancid and cause sticky spots. Flaxseed oil cures hard but becomes brittle and flakes off under everyday high heat. Grapeseed and safflower oils handle high temperatures cleanly, while beeswax provides an even application that polymerizes smoothly without peeling.
Q: Can I use this on carbon steel pans and flat-top griddles?
A: Yes. It works identically on raw cast iron, vintage cookware, carbon steel skillets, and outdoor griddles. Any bare cooking steel will take this seasoning.
Q: Why does my pan feel sticky after seasoning?
A: Sticky spots happen when too much oil is left on the surface before heating. The secret to seasoning is applying the wax and then wiping it down with a dry towel until the pan looks almost dry before putting it in the oven. You only need a microscopic layer to bond with the metal.
Q: How often should I use this on my pan?
A: For regular maintenance, rub a tiny dab onto the warm pan after washing and drying on the stovetop. For a full re-seasoning cycle in the oven, apply once or twice a year or whenever your non-stick patina begins to look dull.
- Clean & Heat: Wash your iron and dry it thoroughly over low-to-medium stovetop heat for 2 to 3 minutes to open the pores of the metal and drive out all moisture.
- Apply Micro-Thin: Let the pan cool until it is comfortably warm to the touch. Use a clean cloth or paper towel to grab a small dab of seasoning and work a thin layer across the entire pan, inside and out.
- Buff It Off: Take a clean, dry lint-free cloth and buff the pan aggressively as if trying to wipe all the wax back off. A micro-thin layer is all that is required; leaving excess oil causes sticky spots.
- Bake & Polymerize: Place the pan upside down in an oven preheated to 450°F (230°C) for 1 hour. Turn the oven off and let the iron cool completely inside before storing or cooking.

By holding the blend below the oils' oxidation thresholds and locking in the exact ratio, the all natural product melts cleanly onto warm iron, flows into microscopic metal pores, and polymerizes into a rock-hard non-stick barrier without scorching or separating.
